Today’s game is Pokemon Platinum. My steam deck decided today was a lovely day to have a stroke and crash so hard the power button won’t respond. Seeing as how I had a whole day with nothing to do and with me being in a Pokemon mood the last few days, I elected to play Platinum to get a Sinnoh dex to add to my Unova Dex.

This screenshot was taken south of Sandgem town on the coast. I love this game’s entire region as it has that lovely Moody feel winter has with the snow everywhere. I also love how the region is split in too and you need to pass through the mountains to get to one side too the other. It’s the same feel as that scene in the LoTR films with Caradhras.

My party passing through Mount Coronet

I’ve so far caught 4 Pokemon for my party.

as you can see, so far on Dillon II remains standing after the first route. This is because Dillon II is better than Dillon. Dillon II will not fail me like Dillon did because Dillon II is better in every conceivable way and carried the entire time with just Tackle. I also called my starter Harold and the Bird Steven.

I’m out of warranty sadly, and Valve estimates 125$ for repairs, so I’m going to try and solve it myself beforehand.

I think it’s something up with the bios, because after unplugging the battery and reconnecting it, The Steam Deck turns on fine. If I restart it though I have to disconnect the battery again to get it to turn back on

I had something similar before where my Deck was all of a sudden in a bootloop (black screen, fan running) and I couldn‘t get it out of it until the battery had emptied itself, then it worked just fine again.

Let me know if you ever figure out what went wrong with yours, for my curiosity‘s sake

I let the battery drain last night before plugging it back in. It wouldn’t turn on though, so I ended up unplugging the battery and plugging it back in to kick it into boot. I also flashed the BIOS again earlier and nothing. I can keep unplugging the battery to kick it into boot whenever it shuts off, but opening it up everytime I want to turn it on is far from ideal lol.

I’m suspecting it’s a physical failure of the Power button now. I’ve seen one person suggest shifting the Mobo up a bit because it can shift down to where the button can’t reach after extended use, so I may try that next. I’m also going to unplug the battery and clean the physical button with Alcohol to hopefully improve contact.

The power button thing would be very disappointing cause it is a vital button that is expected to be pushed a lot… I hope you can figure it out whatever it is.
